Guns are pretty cool, right? Well, I ended up deciding on a better mechanic for Eiszeit's weapon system. Basically, each weapon has a base, a barrel, an aim assist attachment, a secondary fire attachment, firing mechanism and a clip. The base of the gun is what you put the various attachments on. The barrel determines the spread of the gun and to a lesser degree the damage. The aim assist attachment is still yet to be assigned any specific stat boost, so I'm really not sure exactly what that will do yet. The secondary fire attachment is a separate piece that allows for a secondary firing mode, such as a grenade launcher, flame thrower etc, and depletes ammunition just like your primary firing method. The firing mechanism is what decides the rate of fire and finally, the clip determines the rate at which ammunition is consumed when you fire your primary shot.
